The Library Mentoring & Support (LMS) program is a joint collaboration between Bookworm and HT Parekh Foundation to provide mentoring and resource support to 10 library organisations across different geographies of India.
Started in 2023, the objective is to strengthen the library program by strengthening the capacity of individuals working within the organisation in library work. Participants must be interested in deepening their library practice through theory and practice.
The LMS program provides an opportunity to experience the possibilities of library spaces and to develop one’s own vision and practice for libraries. It is designed to closely mentor each organisation based on where it currently is, and shift library practice and understanding across different elements of the library. This is done through online virtual sessions, physical workshop in Bookworm Goa and visit to each individual organisation to strengthen their ambience, collection and practice.

“The LMS journey of one year has been extremely fulfilling and filled with learnings for me. The sessions were well coordinated and extremely helpful in making us think more deeply about our library work. The program provided me with opportunities to brainstorm on some very interesting problem statements, collectively come together with ideas, and implement the same in our library practices. We got to learn from each other through group and one-on-one interactions. Also, the program helped me to build a better understanding of library collection and its categorisation. The discussions were very helpful to increase the community ownership and give you a space to reflect about your own actions towards the library work you are doing. Grateful to be part of this wonderful program.”

“I often wonder which book to choose for reading aloud. It’s interesting to think about how we feel before and after an activity. When I think about joining this course, I feel lucky to have met Sujata and her team. The help I’ve got from the library mentoring program has been great for me. Through the Learning Management System (LMS), I’ve learned a lot about books and how libraries work, like managing collections and organizing spaces. Here, you’re encouraged to explore and think without limits.”
