Bookworm is a resource organisation which offers both, long-term as well as short-term trainings and workshops to individuals, NGOs and children libraries (in schools as well as in communities), in the form of exposure visits, planning and administrative services and mentoring support.
Offered by Bookworm Goa since 2017, certified by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), the LEC course is a unique opportunity grounded in academic thinking, linked with strong practices in a well-designed, highly charged environment, with some of the best library practitioners in the field.
A joint collaboration between Bookworm and the H T Parekh Foundation, the LMS programme aims to provide mentoring and resource support to 10 library organisations across India. The objective is to strengthen the library program by developing the capacity of individuals engaged in library work through on-site visits and enhancing library engagement through theory and practice-based learning.
In collaboration with TES, Bookworm works with the librarians and READ coordinators across 4 DPS schools in Pune, Ludhiana, Coimbatore and Patna, to mentor the library and the READ program within these schools.
As a part of Wipro Foundation’s capacity building efforts, Bookworm Goa and Wipro Foundation conduct this workshop to engage educators and development sector entrepreneurs into spring-boarding their library practice. The course gives an opportunity to participants to experience and to think about what one can do to change the language and practice of libraries in one’s own work. The workshop also aims to build a deeper understanding of the engagement of children in a library network, with like-minded organisations.
Bookworm and the Takshila Educational Society (TES) offer an Introduction to Libraries Workshop in residence at Parivartan, Narendrapur village, Jiradei block, Siwan, Bihar to individuals working with children and libraries. Through this workshop, practitioners get to learn about the concrete actions and aspects of what makes a children’s library and how to engage children with library practices, specially, if communities are new to literacy and library cultures.
A program for educators to support children who need help with their reading. Through this program, children are encouraged to learn and practice reading with one-on-one support in a structured yet enjoyable environment.
Paid masterclasses for library personnel on different library topics are conducted by experts / experienced educators / authors / professionals on a monthly basis to support a growing community of library educators.
Bookworm team conducts library audits in schools and community libraries across the country to assist organisations in reorganising the library space and refreshing the collection to match the requirements of the children.
Providing support, training, and resources to help organisations build their own and independent community spaces and childrens’ libraries.
