Day 3….and there’s lots of excitement!
Word in the library is that big bars of chocolate are set on the work spaces to be used today! They’re wondering……hoping…..little fingers crossed!
And so ofcourse, that was the first question they asked us. We figured, why take away the suspense so soon?! “Maybe…” we tell them. They’re smarter (and more impatient : P) than that! So before we know it, they’re looking at the recipe sheets and ticking things off the ingredient list, still quite hopeful.
And then they hit pay dirt….found what they are looking for…CHOCOLATE!
As always, the kids are super enthusiastic and will do any little task assigned to them with gusto!
“I want to sieve the flour!”
“Can I add that?!”
“Teacher may I help you?!”
“Sure darlings……this is your time to do things in the kitchen and make something yummy!”
“What are we going to do next??” One whispers in the other’s ear…”when are we going to use the chocolate???????????”
“Shhhh! We have to finish making the biscuits first, then Ma’am, will bring the chocolate!
They were 100% right! The cookies were popped into the oven, and then came the tempering of chocolate! *HAPPINESS!!*
And when the cookies were done…. “YAAAAAY!!” “Ooooooooh!” “Can I eat it now?!”
The kids were considerably calmer for the next part of the day’s session (Yes, even after the sugar high!)
And the work space conversation shifted to chess, swimming, karate and other hobbies….all this as potatoes were peeled, coriander was chopped and ingredients were measured.
At the end of the day….hungers were piqued and all the kids were anxious to go home. Most likely to ceremoniously show their parents the cookies they’d made….and then to do the needful to make them disappear!
