It is the end of March and everybody is busy with their agenda. People are worrying about the financial year end, mothers are worried about how to keep their children busy throughout the summer vacations, teachers are busy with exams and paper corrections and the children are busy planning how to spend two glorious months of no school….. I for one will miss schools and not one but three schools and the children of these schools. Each school that I have been going throughout the year for our library sessions, is unique in its own way and each child that I have had the opportunity to interact with is but of course unique in his or her own way. In one school that I visit, we have had the opportunity to implement our Library program this year on children of Grade 1. This Grade has two divisions brimming with a never ending buzzing energy and never ending questions about anything and everything. These children are so small and yet each one has his/her own personality.
Sagar, who would grin naughtily and tell me that he had forgotten to bring his story book and then suddenly make the book appear magically from under his desk and I had to act surprised every Tuesday. The dreamy Radha who was always far away in her own little world. The jumpy Prem who always had to jump up and come ahead to tell me to give him a chance to answer. The sagely Rohit who answered very wisely. The mischievous Afsha with an equally naughty twinkle in her eyes, ready to push me to the limits. The quiet Rajlaxmi who would ask me to bend down as she had a secret to tell me and would quickly kiss me on my cheeks. The smart Sujal who always managed to bring a smile on my face by telling me that I look beautiful. So many children and so many vivid personalities and I am going to miss them these two months. With eager anticipation, I look forward to see different facets of these personalities in the new academic year
