Bookworm’s mission is to spread the love for reading to every child and one way we do this in the Libraries in School Program is by introducing children to our collection of books. Children are exposed to different kinds of books such as picture books, board books as well as types of books like fiction, non – fiction , poetry etc.

At Bookworm, whenever new books arrive, there is always a smile and happiness on our face. The new books nourish us with new stories, new perspectives and often an  entire new world. So, it is easy to imagine, how children will feel when a new set of brand new books is taken to them? The reaction and happiness is precious. That’s exactly what happened in Sanjay Center for Special Education . Each and every child of both the groups we work with, Shruti and  Sharddha were very happy.

The children came to me showing their new book and telling me how happy they are to have the books.

“Sir I like my princess book, I love princess book”

“Sir, look sir, I got a car book which has wheels” said another child rolling the car on the floor.

Children of the Shruti group were also happy with the collection were showing their selections to their teacher and to their friends who were sitting next to them. The feeling of happiness was expressed to us through actions and delight in each and every page through signs. Even the teacher were happy to see the collection.

The responsibility is now to encourage children to continue their wonderful booktalks with the new collection and to keep their excitement high through the rest of the term so that we support a love for reading.
