Bookworm Trust

From the first day at Bookworm,  I started learning and I got to know that this library is something different. I am a shy person, but since everyone works in teams I learnt how to interact with people and since I began to go to school to assist in the school program, I learnt to interact with children too !

I was not talking much at home so these interactions built my confidence. I joined Bookworm when schools were on holiday and this time helped me to learn more about tasks that I had to undertake. I was asked to work with the LiS program ( Library in School) and had the  responsibility of assisting. I began by supporting Shraddha and that was a good experience. I got to know my assisting tasks and I learned very fast. I am a systematic person and I enjoyed the acts of  checking stationery regularly, packing bags with read aloud books and material for school, shelving and so on. I feel very good when I am going to school as I am doing my work and also learning from the students.

I learnt to use the reading assessment tool we call RAT very fast and that is my favourite task . I got to know and understand types of books, fiction and non-fiction books and also I learned to read books, which I used to not do before.

This academic year, I was given the responsibility of leading classes which was very difficult for me but the team encouraged and helped whenever I needed.  In that also I learned many things from the children. I learned to sing song in the class which helped me to overcome my shyness. After leading classes which is still a  very difficult task  for me the next very difficult thing is that of writing lead reports . I am  not sure that I able to reflect my thoughts in writing well and I feel that this is something I have to improve. When sharing my learnings with the team, I realised that I have learnt many things by working in the library that the library Certificate course does not teach me , and I like the different kinds of actions that make me a library resource person.
