M-A-M-M-A

We all call HER by different names but the feeling is personal and universal. It is this same feeling I have experienced at St. Thomas Girls High School, Std. 1 class when Flavia read aloud My Mother’s Sari published by Tulika, written by Sandhya Rao and beautifully illustrated by Nina Sabnani.

After the pre-story discussion, Flavia sang the MAMMA song to the tune of B-I-N-G-O. It was a super hit with the children. They sang it very happily.

My Mother’s Sari is beautifully illustrated this adds to children’s connection with it. The children were excited how the sari is used in the book.

For the extension activity we made a train with sari, used it to hide under and used it to wrap around the children just like the character in the story.
