Quite some time ago, at Chimbel, Sheena and I read the story “Rooster and The Sun”.
The story is about a farmer who gets angry at the sun for making it unpleasant when he is working in the fields and tells it to go away.
The book has beautiful illustrations which add to the magic of the story.
There were about 26 kids who were present for the story reading. The atmosphere became very peaceful when the story was read to the kids. It felt like each of us were a part of the emotion the book was taking us through.
After reading the book, we had a discussion with the kids about the characters in the story and about if they have been angry to someone who matters (for which most of them pointed to their close friends 🙂
Later we did an activity with the kids. We made hanging suns with CDs and paper. We also asked them to write about the importance of sun in their daily lives.
The same day, Sheena had also taught them the “sunshine” song.
This session was a very complete experience for all us.
